Classes 2009

[Arizona Knitting and Needlepoint] [Favorite Projects] [AzKnitting  Classes]

Our very popular CLASSES have now been scheduled thru’ October of 2009 and can be found here

Barb2 Barb1

Join the Kimono Club!  A group of dedicated and determined knitters have taken up the challenge to make variety of comfortable, classic and flattering kimonos. While each one is unique, the basic shape remains the same.  It requires NO shaping and can be sized to every body and taste.  We will help you with your selection and pattern and then you are welcome to join the group.  This is a wild, a bit wacky and totally fun group of gals. Don’t listen to
Shirley when she tells you that it will cost you $100.00 to join the group (It’s free).  If you can laugh at the request, you’ve past the test to join.  Be prepared to have a truly great time. Later this year, we’ll post photos of their results.

Joyce

Joyce dressed her bear in an absolutely gorgeous jacket, decorated with knitted roses. This has got to be Scottsdales’ Best Dressed Bears!

Pat Hogan

Pat made this lovely little girls’ jumper dress.  It serves double duty, as a summer dress or in the cool months, to be worn with a blouse and tights. Just too cute. Lucky little girl!

Dorothy Johnsons boys

Dorothy knitted classic pullovers for her two strapping sons. She used hand dyed wool with a very soft hand.  I think that getting them to pose for the photo may have been the bigger challenge.

Sophann rust shrug

Robin is a member of our team.  She loves to knit and is quite an organizer! You’ll see the results of her work as she lends her touch throughout the shop.

Sophann made two variations of this fabulous shrug.  The one above was her first (and I ambushed her for this slightly fuzzy photo). The picture on the left was her second and is equally gorgeous yet quite different. Can’t wait to see what you make next.

Alizas’ mom Karen made her these adorable winter socks. Aliza is also learning to knit!

Judy just finished this really darling sweater for her new grandson.  I just love the asymetrical design. Great job Judy! Knitters, Judy is going through a very challenging time right now and she needs all the prayers that can be said for her.

Little Girl

This little cutie, her name is Ava, proudly models the outfit that her Grandmother, Maria, knitted for her. It is a cotton Romper

Mark is checking his new socks and has become quite a proficient sock maker.

Elizabeth loves her new Tutu dress made by her mother Mary Lee. She loves to twirl in her dress and feels very special in it.

Liz is a brand new knitter who loves to take on a challenge!  She made this jacket and the tank underneath in time for her anniversary dinner. It’s beautiful and impressive!

Pat is getting some help from Marty at our table. Isn’t her new scarf gorgeous?! You can always get help from one of us, when you purchase your yarns from Arizona Knitting and Needlepoint.

Here are the reports from the New Times, Best of Phoenix Magazine for the past 4 years. We never know who the ‘shoppers’ are. Come in to our Bricks and Mortar store and see if you agree with their comments.

BEST KNITTING SUPPLIES (2004)

Arizona Knitting and Needlepoint

Whether you're a novice with the needles or a veritable machine, Arizona Knitting and Needlepoint has what you need to knit. This charming, tiny yellow house is literally packed to the rafters with a selection of unusual, high-quality yarn, and the prices are fair. The staffers aren't snooty, and they maintain a helpful attitude even when confronted by rank amateurs. If they don't have a particular size and style of needle, they'll cheerfully order it, and they're happy to offer aesthetic advice on your project. (Here, unlike at some other knitting places in the Valley, you might actually feel inclined to take it.) Call first, because the shop closes for a few weeks in the summer.

See, we knew these folks were smart.

These days, knitting is hotter than a nickel on a car seat. With-it Valley knitters tend to flock to Arizona Knitting, a floor-to-ceiling mass of high-quality yarns and fibers, as well as needles, crochet hooks and needlecraft paraphernalia. It also stocks a surprisingly thorough collection of literature on the subjects of knitting, crocheting and needlepoint. The most endearing quality of this wonderful shop, however, is the communal table at the rear of the store, where clientele meet to discuss needlework, fix knitting problems, and hang with other stitchers. Informative and well-organized workshops cater to all levels and are taught throughout the year by a knowledgeable and engaging staff. The only problem you might have to contend with at Arizona Knitting and Needlepoint (other than an occasional dropped stitch) is deciding which amazing knit to pick for your next project.

BEST KNITTING KNOW-HOW STORE (2006)

Arizona Knitting and Needlepoint

Packed to overflowing with cool yarns and fibercraft implements, this Old Town Scottsdale staple is to local knitting stores what Durant's is to Phoenix restaurants. In terms of yarn selection, you won't find a more extensive array of commercial and hand-spun fibers. And while that's a definite plus, the thing that keeps yarn fanatics going back to AZ Knitting is the wealth of knowledge that dwells within this stitchin' grotto. You'd be hard-pressed to stump owner Rebecca with a project question, and if she's occupied (she has a legion of fans — in fact, she refuses to give out her last name, because she'll get calls at home from eager knitters), her staff is among the friendliest and most helpful of any Phoenix business, graciously imparting "purls" of wisdom upon the masses.
